DI(fr)Yday: How to make a fall leaf crown

Thanksgiving outfit - leather boots, mustard tights, red babydoll dress, DIY fall-leaf hair wreath

I wore this crown for Thanksgiving yesterday (here). It's quite simple to make. Here's how...

You will need:
How to make a fall leaf crown
-A few fake autumn leaves in desired colors. You can sometimes buy these loose in packs, but I found mine on a fake branch in the floral section of Hobby Lobby. I just cut the leaves off the branch. There were also a couple acorns and pine cones on my twigs. You can use things like this for additional decoration if you want. After thinking about it, though, I decided to keep mine simple.
-A glue gun and hot glue
-A plain headband (This can also be found at Hobby Lobby if you don't already have an old one you don't want anymore.)

Step 1. Hot glue the first leaf to the headband just to the side of the midpoint by applying a bit of glue directly to the band and then pressing the leaf down on the glue.
Step 2. Glue a second leaf further down the headband, overlapping the first leaf as shown.
Step 3. Continue adding more leaves in this way until you reach the end of the headband. I like to slightly angle each leaf left and then right alternately to give the crown a fuller look. I also like to alternate between redder leaves, browner leaves, and yellower leaves. Also, if you're leaves vary in size at all, it's a good idea to glue the larger ones toward the middle/top of the headband and the smaller ones toward the ends by where your ears will be.
Step 4. Glue another leaf near the first one, pointing in the opposite direction as shown. The tips of these leaves should nestle info each other, overlapping a bit in order to hide all evidence of the headband base. Continue as before until the whole headband is covered.
