FAQs

FAQs
Who takes the photos for your blog?
I take the majority of them (even the outfit photos, which I take using a timer and a tripod), but on occasion, Ryan helps me out by taking some outfit photos, which is nice because it's much faster.

What kind of camera do you use?
I upgraded to my first DSLR in the spring of 2011, and have been really enjoying the opportunity to learn new skills and grow as a photographer. I use a Canon Rebel EOS T3, which is a great first DSLR. I shoot primarily with the kit lens and with a 50mm f/1.8.

What do you do for a living?
In addition to blogging, I work at Anthropologie. I've also been working as a freelance copywriter since graduating from college in 2010, and I'm moving toward the goal of supporting myself as a full-time writer.

How did you get started blogging?
In college, I discovered lookbook.nu and was instantly smitten. Somehow the idea of taking photos of my outfits and sharing them online had never occurred to me before. After a while, I began to notice that a lot of the other members had fashion blogs. I started my own and gradually began to share more than just outfits.

What are your wedding plans?
After dating for three and a half years, Ryan and I got engaged in July 2011. I wanted lots of time to plan, so we picked January 2013 as our wedding date. For more information on the planning process, you can check out my wedding page here.

How did you learn to sew?
My mom taught me the basics when I was little enough to sit on her lap, guiding the machine's food while she worked the peddle. I learned the rest gradually through books, online resources, and lots of trial and error. I am, by no means, an expert seamstress, but it's something I love to do, and I feel like I'm always improving.
