Our New York Vacation: The Video

When we travel, I sometimes like to make a short video to keep as a souvenir along with all the vacation photos. This one will give you an idea of some of the sights and activities we enjoyed in New York. And, if you're interested, you can check out a video I made last year of a fun day trip Ryan and I took to the very charming Columbus, Indiana. Find it here

Our New York Trip in Photos

New York Trip

If you follow me on Instagram, you've already glimpsed the world of fun we had in New York a couple weeks ago. Instagram is great for sharing your life in photos in real time. However, I also like to capture some higher quality shots with my DSLR.

So, without further ado, here they are for your viewing pleasure, along with a couple shots of me from Ryan's iPhone, which also missed the Instagram train.

What I wore today: 10/20/2014 (High Line)

High Line

This fall, I bought myself my first ever nice wool coat. I think my taste has finally evolved to the point where I can invest in something like this, and I'm really happy with my choice of this lovely bi-tonal coat from Madewell. Lately, I feel like I could just live in Madewell.

Ryan took these photos of my on the High Line, the lovely new(isn) green space that runs through Chelsea along an old rail-line they were going to tear down. It's a real coup too because, other than Central Park, New York is really lacking in good parks. I guess it's hard to keep any space in Manhattan from quickly turning into a building.

As far as green space goes, I'm really spoiled living in Northside here in Cincinnati because there are several preserved forests within the city just walking distance from my home as well as an incredible cemetery/arboretum. Anyway, the High Line is really special. I'd like to run on it the next time we go to New York.

Our Trip to Williamsburg (In Instagrams)

This. Hat.

Last weekend, Ryan and I took a road trip to Williamsburg, VA. It was a blast, exactly the kind of vacation we love to take: spontaneous, full of surprises, lots of walking, nerdy adventures, fresh seafood.

Our Winter Honeymoon in a Snowy Cabin

Our January Honeymoon: a wintry weekend at the snow-covered cabins of Murphin Ridge Inn

Two and a half years ago, Ryan and I spent a few autumn nights in a beautiful cabin in amish country. (See photos in this post, after the outfit). We decided to return for our honeymoon, and it was just the perfect, cozy, weekend escape we needed to relax and soak up all the joy and love we had just experienced.

The Inn has a delicious restaurant that provides breakfast and dinner, and there are lots of trails for snowy hikes (our favorite kind). We also spent one perfect evening in front of a fireplace: I knitted a sock while Ryan read aloud from The Princess Bride. (He does all the voices, of course.) Growing old together is going to be so much fun; we already spend our leisure time like old people, and I love it!
