What I wore today: 01/22/2013 (Texas Tux)

Texas Tux Outfit: Ombré chambray shirt, skinny jeans, brown leather boots, maiden braids, Lauren by Ralph Lauren "Winslow Satchel" bag

As I mentioned here, layering this necklace over a collar buttoned up all the way has become one of my favorite little details to spice up a simple outfit. And you can't get much more simple than denim on denim. (See some of my other Canadian/Texas Tuxedos here & here)

As for the braids, I periodically get obsessed with maiden braids and I've been on a major kick recently. In fact, I learned the other day that my hair is actually long enough to do a whole wreath (not just over the top as I'm wearing here). I've been waiting for this moment since I was 8 years old and saw Leia's braided wreath in The Empire Strikes Back for the first time. I must say, I feel like I've accomplished something big.

I think I'll try to shoot a tutorial soon.

Fictional Fashion Icon: Luna Lovegood

After seeing the new Harry Potter trailer (you can watch it yourself at the bottom of this post), I thought today would be a good time to post another Fictional Fashion Icon, Luna Lovegood of the Harry Potter books and movies.

Luna is one of my all-time favorite characters in any book or movie, and her style is so whimsical and fun. Plus, she knows how to make an entrance at a wedding.

In the books, people always make fun of the weird things she wears, specifically dirigible plum earrings, a butter beer cork necklace, and spectra specs. But Luna never cares what people think. What an ispiration.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's the trailer. Who's excited?

In love with Erdem's Spring 2011 collection

For me, regardless of current trends, spring is all about floral dresses, white lace, and showing a little skin in an innocent and youthful way. That's why I am so excited about the spring 2011 collection Erdem has put out. From the floral-and-lace above-the-knee dresses to the shoes that lace up the ankle like point shoes, to the braided wreaths of hair all the models were rocking, this collection spoke to me in the eternal voice of spring fashion and what it will always mean to me, in 2011 and beyond.
