What I wore today: 02/22/2015 (Snow White, Rose Red)

I love wearing simple items with special details. When I saw someone wearing this coat in the elevator of my office building, I immediately started searching for it online. Luckily, I found it at an outlet for a third of the original price. I was so excited! I love how it looks clean and classic, but the asymmetry and the placement of the leather details also brings a slightly sic-fi sensibility. 

The Marc by Marc Jacobs bag is also a recent outlet find. My favorite thing about it is that there's a hidden section behind the clear front so that I can achieve that transparent look without having to display every single thing in my bag.

25th Birthday Wish List

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about pretty little things, details that make life more beautiful: a neon-hued makeup bag, a fashionable camera strap, decorative silverware, and lovely undergarments that no one else sees but that make you feel sexy all day long. 

I'm turning 25 on June 4th, and I know it will be the little things that make the day special as well: a brunch cocktail, a walk with Ryan through our neighborhood, a happy-birthday message from a friend.

What I wore today: 04/06/2012 (Steel-toed)

On Friday, we went to see our friend's comedy-CD-recording performance. Actually, on Wednesday, we were seeing another friend record his CD, so we saw 2 CD-recording performances in one week. Not by any means our average.

I love this outfit. The way the pinkish-reds of my blouse, lipstick, and nails all pop together makes it look special even in its simplicity. And I think this blouse (which I got at outlet price!) is very Downton Abbey.

Also, I'm obsessed with the metal caps on these shoes. I think they strike the perfect balance of delicate and edgy.

Plus, I can see my reflection in them if I need to touch up my lipstick or something.

Independent Fashion Bloggers project: what's in my bag

You may remember the what's-in-my-bag video I made a few months back, but the contents of my bag have changed a lot since then, as has the very bag in question. Plus, IFB is doing a fun project where participants take a photo of the contents of our bags and map it out, much like the last page of Marie Claire (a feature of the magazine that I always love). 8. Food pairing cards for a few beers I tried at the recent iron-chef style cook-off where I was judge

9. A spare hair tie and clip. I'm never more than a few seconds away from a bun. (Especially important in the summer as long hair can get so hot on your neck)

10. Canvass sunglasses case - Lucky Penny via Anthropologie

11. Tide to-go pen - I'm convinced this was made for people just like me who a) love clothes, and b) spill things a lot. I can't live without it.
