I love overalls. When examining my style, recently, I realized that I must have a subconscious desire to dress like Tom Sawyer, and overalls definitely fit that bill. So do straw hats, simple button down shirts, worn ankle boots, and high-water pants that hit at awkward lengths. Sign me up.

My sister-in-law gave me this shirt for Christmas. It says "Célflie" like a mock Céline logo, and I think it's perfect for me, because my name is Célèste (with accents!) and, as a blogger, I take a lot of selfies.

This spring, I've been wearing my denim jacket like crazy. It's just so easy to pair with everything, from dresses to t-shirts and black jeans.

I got these J.Brand jeans from an outlet a few weeks ago, and I've worn them basically every day since. They fit beautifully, look amazing, and haven't stretched out at all. I'm a total J.Brand convert now. I love that these only cost $20 (because they were from an outlet), but in the future I think I'll willingly shell out for the hefty J.Brand price point with the confidence that their jeans are totally worth it.

Easter Inspiration

I loved Easter as a kid, mostly for the color palette, but, as I gold older, it's significance dwindled. Then, I married into a Catholic family and learned that Easter doesn't have to be just for kids. Now, I make homemade pretzels, spend the day with family, and daydream about chic ways to decorate eggs.

What I wore today: 03/14/2015 (Rhymes with Orange)

Last week, I got a small section of my hair buzzed off. I've wanted to do it for so long, I had to finally take the plunge, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It makes me feel like a total badass. Plus it's subtle enough that it's really easy to hide for those more conservative days (like Monday to Friday). Props to my amazing stylist Ivette for suggesting to make the section not too high so I wouldn't hose volume and could wear it in a variety of ways. 

I guess something about my new haircut and the warm weather we've been having made me wear orange and mix prints. Sometimes you feel quiet and sometimes you feel loud.

What I wore today: 05/21/2014 (Ginger and Clover)

So, I'm a ginger now! I decided to do something new with my hair, and I love the way it eventually turned out, but it was quite a nightmare getting here with a few missteps along the way. 

First, my stylist dyed my hair a dark oxblood color. Then, trying to correct it, she dyed it bright orange. I gave up on her, bought some brown dye and applied that on top of the orange to bring it down into the realm of realism.

I really like the way it looks. Unfortunately, since it's a Frankenstein's monster of a color, I doubt I'll be able to find a way to dye my roots to match when they come in, so I'll probably have to go back to brown pretty soon. 

Oh well, I'm just trying to enjoy it while it lasts. 

I've worn these boots about 5 days a week since I bought them last November. A few months ago, I bought these lace socks, and decided they are PERFECT with the boots so I bought two more pairs. When I love something, I really love it.

On Friday, I accompanied my friend to the DAAP fashion show again to see her sister's collection. It was a fun night out, and I got to wear a dress, which is something I haven't been doing a lot of during the long hard winter we just had.

What I wore today: 03/29/2014 (Pretty in Pink)

I fell in love with this dress when it first came in to the store back before Christmas. But, at $298, I just couldn't justify the purchase, even with my employee discount. So, you can imagine my surprise and joy when I found one in February marked down to $39.95. It was a 4, and, though I could squeeze myself into it, I tracked down a 6 at the Louisville store and had them send it to me. 

Knowing Ryan and I had tickets to the ballet at the end of March, I saved it for the occasion. I even got lucky with a day of 40-degree stormy weather, which meant tights wouldn't be an absolute necessity as they have been for time immemorial. 

We had a lovely date night, trying out a new restaurant in our neighborhood, which we had been saving for the occasion as well. Some things are worth the wait.

My Spring Wish List

It feels absolutely nothing like spring outside. March has made this Very Hard Winter, if anything, even harder, with temperatures plunging below zero yet again. And so, even something as small as the scent of a honeysuckle candle gets my thoughts turning to the sunny days that must be ahead.

Still, I find it hard to even think about spring clothing right now. I don't think I can remember a time when I wasn't wearing wool socks and a thermal every day.

What I wore today: 05/22/2013 (Olive You)

When it gets really hot outside, all I want to wear is light woven cotton dresses and flat sandals. Luckily, classic shapes like shirt dresses, and materials like olive green cotton and chambray are there for me all summer long.

Last weekend in Vegas, I kept feeling unbelievably classy as I strolled around in shirt dresses and flats, watching so many other women walk by in super revealing and cheap-looking outfits with low-cut tops, micro mini skirts, and sky high heels.

I will say this right now: a diamond may be forever, but so is a classic shirt dress.
