What I wore today: 02/06/2013 (Tulips & Turban)

Tulips and turban outfit: black sneaker wedges, skinny jeans, magenta tank, Proenza Schouler for Target sweatshirt, hand-knitted turban headband

Anthro "The Magazine" did quite a lovely profile of employees' favorite sweatshirts not long ago (see it here). There really is something particularly comforting about a really special sweatshirt. I think the very best ones are warm, comfortable, and stylish.

I have a particular thing for classic heather gray ones with a twist, and my current favorite is this Proenza Schouler for Target one that I picked up while doing some holiday shopping. I have worn it countless times since then, and I particularly like to layer it over a magenta tank so that a little color pops out.

As for the turban? I became obsessed with this one recently and decided I had to make something similar. After scouring the web for patterns, nothing quite satisfied, so I decided to make a headband version instead with this simple idea.

What I wore today: 10/03/2012 (Swayze)

Swayze outfit: teal and navy dress, fair isle blazer from Anthropologie, leather clogs with faux fur trim, studded bottom bag

For me, fall fashion is about rich colors, cozy knits, layering, and pattern mixing

This lovely Fair Isle blazer is part sweater part blazer, so Ryan has taken to calling it my Swayze. I think it's a really special piece and I love that the knit alternates between stripes of right-side-out and wrong-side-out Fair Isle.

There's something so beautiful about the exposed underside of fabric. It tells a story of secrets exposed, vulnerability, and the craftsmanship that goes into a garment. Also it looks cool.

What I wore today: 02/10/2012 (Finally Snow)

Brown and blue outfit: hand-knit scarf by me, floral dress, blue tights, brown leather boots, camel pea coat

Finally we have some actual snow: some pretty, fluttering, white flakes. It finally looks like winter outside my window. I hope we can get some stickage, because I want to go roll around in the stuff!

I love brown and blue together. It's a bit of an unexpected color combination that always looks surprisingly chic. I knitted this scarf back in high school with some yummy, thick, knubbly, wool yarn. It's a favorite for sure.

What I wore today 10/19/2011 (Leopard and turban)

I guess it's appropriate I wore leopard print today, since apparently there were wild animals running all over just north of town. It's quite a sad story, actually.

This scarf was knitted for me by my dear friend Barb. I discovered today that it can also be worn as a turban. Love it.

Guerilla knitting

Here's another bit of beauty I thought I'd share with all you beautiful readers . . .

One Saturday morning not long ago, I awoke early (because my boyfriend works in a hospital and I sometimes can't fall back asleep after his 5:30 alarm) and decided to take a trip to my favorite bakery Shadeau Bread in Cincinnati's OTR (Over the Rhine). Shadeau makes the best bread, but I had my sights set on some Saturday-morning pain au chocolate, something special to make waking up that early not a total downer.

But, as I approached the bakery, I saw something even more delightful than pain au chocolate. "Impossible!" you shout? Just wait . . .

Blocks and blocks of guerilla knitting in the lovely streets of my lovely hometown.

My picks from the upcoming Missoni for Target collection

I am very excited about the Missoni for Target collection (launching September 13th). I love designer collaborations, and Missoni is one of my all-time favorite design houses, so this particular one is a dream come true. I've even set up an alert on my iPhone so that I don't miss opening day. If the buzz is anything to judge by, I'm sure the collection will be selling out fast. If you're interested, you can see the whole collection here.

These my favorite pieces...

And, of course, there's the most talked about piece in the collection: the bike. Love it.
