70%-off at ModCloth

I totally didn't intend to buy any clothes today, but ModCloth was having a 70%-off sale which is just freaking awesome, so I picked up a few things for incredible prices.

You should definitely check it out yourself, although I'll warn you their stuff is going fast, when I was looking through a lot of stuff was already sold out.

More pattern making, fabric cutting

I spent this morning and afternoon making patterns and cutting fabric so that I'll be ready to whip up the Tea Dress and the Lolita Dress this weekend.

Listening to audio books makes every task enjoyable (and I'm loving Freaknomics!)

I hardly ever use pins anymore, just weights. These jars of brown sugar and cornmeal work well and I think they're so pretty too. :)

Still thinking up more dresses to sew

Of course having 7 dresses currently in the works isn't going to stop me from dreaming up more. Who do you think I am?

Here's what I want to make next. Two dresses, both based on the Drindl dress from Built By Wendy Dresses, one in soft gray flannel with a Peter-Pan collar, and the other in blue velvet with a chelsea collar.

I have one more thing to share with you today. Martha looked très chic bundled up in the snow.

Planning more dresses (stripes, and gingham, and floral, oh my! ...and lace)

Though I still have the Empress Dress and the Tea Dress left to make, I have begun planning other dresses with help from my trusty guide Built By Wendy Dresses. I went to the fabric store today and and bought supplies. Here is what I have in mind to make in the coming month or two.

Baja fresh dress

I think this fabric will be even better than stripes for this dress; it has a more authentic Mexican feel. (It's soft and woven just like fabric I've seen in Mexico.) Also, I will not be pairing the dress with socks and ugly sandals (obviously).

bold shoulders dress

This dress is actually two one-shouldered dresses worn layered. I'm making it with silvery lace I got for a great sale price and navy silk. (As usual, August had to help.)

American pastoral dress

Instead of navy and cream stripes, I'm using this popcorn carton candy striper fabric.

Lolita dress

I love the look of this dress, but I'm changing it slightly: gingham instead of polkadots).

I don't have a drawing of my plan for the floral and lace dress that I posted about earlier, but here's the gorgeous hydrangea-print cotton I picked out and the white lace (on sale!)
