What I wore today: 02/26/2013 (Rainy Day)

Rainy Day outfit: Holding Horse overalls from Anthropologie, heather gray t-shirt, hunter green rain boots

Recently, I asked Ryan, "What would you think if I started wearing overalls?" I'm glad he was game because I'd already set my heart on this pair that we'd just gotten in at work (not that objections from him would have stopped me).

This pair is special. I love their soft denim, drawstring waist, and eyelet-inlay detailing.

It's cold and rainy right now, so I have to pair them with boots, but, as soon as we get a sunny spring day, I'm going to wear them rolled up to my ankles with no shirt underneath.

I know that overalls are not everyone's cup of tea, and that's part of what I love about them. Neon, flatforms, high-low hems (or mullet skirts as people who dislike them are fond of calling them), and other controversial items tend to get my attention, and then, after a while, my love.

What can I say? Anything that's different is going to have a certain amount of appeal. That's the evolution of fashion. Trends swing one way and then another, and the most exciting things are the ones that push the envelope.

So, how do you feel about overalls?

What I wore today 11/03/2011 (Rain Chic)

It's pouring rain today (obviously) and it's jacket weather besides, so I had to layer and waterproof myself.

This big rubbish bin is in the yard because we're getting a new roof put up. I toyed with the idea of calling this post "Under Construction," because you see the blog is also under construction right now. I'm in the process of creating paging to hopefully make the whole thing easier to navigate and more informative.

What I wore today 10/20/2011 (Purple for Spirit Day)

IMG_2881

Did you wear purple today to celebrate Spirit Day and show your support for LGBT youth. The awful bullying that goes on against these kids is an issue near to my heart, so I was enthusiastic to take part in spreading awareness by wearing purple today. If you know an LGBT youth who is struggling, please make sure they know about the wonderful It Gets Better Project.

Okay, on to the outfit . . .

I considered several purple options . . .

. . . but settled on this lovely double breasted (with heart-shaped buttons) knit dress with big pockets. It's so comfortable. I paired it with a cami and some shoes that I just picked up at a thrift shop yesterday while scouring for a Diane Court dress.

What I wore today 09/25/2011 (Even more Missoni!)

Ryan and I are planning on taking a picnic to the park today to see a Shakespeare-in-the-Park production of Julius Caesar. Fingers crossed it doesn't get rained out! :)

What I wore today 09/21/2011 (Rain)

IMG_1197

So, I went to Nordstrom Rack again yesterday and bought a few investment pieces (cashmere lined gloves for the upcoming winter, the Sperry top-siders I've been wanting forever, a long string of false pearls) as well as these incredibly cute shoes (which definitely fall into the indulgement file, rather than the investment one). I had to get them because they reminded me so much of the shoes I salivated over in February when I saw the new Philisophy di Alberta Ferretti collection. With they're sqaurish toes and clunky heels, they're a dream come true.

Raining today. I had a work thing, so here's what I wore...

P.S. I went to Anthropologie the other day (because my mom and I had to show our friend Barb, who'd never been), and while I didn't get anything (flexing that will-power muscle!) I did try on a pair of heelless heels. Lucy Hale was right; they're not as hard to walk in as they look. Still a bit scary, though.
