Story of a clothing swap

Saturday was great. I went to the park with Ryan and then wondered around Findlay Market for a while trying out my lovely new camera (Canon Rebel T3).

After that I went to a clothing swap. It was super fun and there were lots of cool clothes.

Here's what I brought to swap...

I invited my friends Cece and Kelly (who you can see being goofy in the following pictures). I also saw my friend Megan there and she, Cece, and I went out for food and drink after (as well as discussion of OCD and the worst weddings ever attended). All in all, it was a wonderful night

Kelly

Everything Kelly's wearing, she got at the swap! Cute, huh? Here's what I got...

Cute, cotton sundress (Maxi dresses are really growing on me lately, and I love thin, woven, cotton in the summer.):

Cotton minidress (Kelly has one like it in another color):

Emerald jersey t-shirt dress (shown with a thrifted belt I already had):

All right, that's all for now. I'm off to swim a few laps and sit by the pool with Marie Claire.

Experimenting with O.P.I. "Black Shatter" nail polish

"Black Shatter" nail polish by Katy Perry for O.P.I. is pretty much the sh!t. It's fun to use (though it takes a bit of practice to get the feel for it) and looks edgy and fun. I tried it earlier this week on top of yellow and right now I'm wearing it on top of pink. I do wish it were available in more colors though. So far the only color besides black I've seen is silver.

A few post-wedding things

So, I hinted about a surprise that I couldn't tell you about until after the wedding. Here it is...

I made this quilt (my first ever) as a gift for Ben and Jenn. It's all different shades off-white and off white and different textures. It has many imperfections, but I'm still proud.

Also, here's a bit of a peak at my full wedding look. More wedding pictures to come in a few weeks.

Take care!

Preparations for the wedding

The past few days have been crazy getting ready for my brother's wedding, which is tomorrow. In fact, I barely have time to write this post -- I'm about to leave for Hocking Hills where the ceremony will be tomorrow -- but I just had to keep you all updated on the excitement.

Inspired by all the hats at Kate and Will's wedding, my mom and I spontaneously drove to Louisville to buys hats for the wedding. We knew there would be a ton of great hats there since it's derby week.

Plus, it was a good excuse to go to our favorite Mexican food place, El Mundo.

Mmmmmm... prickly pear margaritas.

So many hats, hats, hats...

(About half a second after this picture was taken, that lady made us stop taking pictures.)

I adore the way this Brook's Brother's mannequin is dressed. More people should wear khaki suits in the summer. They are so classic preppy and Gatsby-esque.

This hat was cute and came in exactly the shades of green and blue that are in my dress, but I decided it looked a little too "old."

Instead I bought this one. If felt more "me."

All happy with my new hat boxed up and ready to go:

You know what's crazy. I realized after I bought my hat that it looks a lot like the one I saw Kate Middleton wearing the first time I even stopped and thought what nice style she had.

Don't you think?

Today, I finally finished the dress I made for myself to wear to the wedding. Sorry I couldn't do a step-by-step with photos for you, but my camera's been on the fritz lately.

I finished it in two days and I only burned myself with the iron twice!

(Aloe helps.)

My mom left me this cute note to remind me to bring my nail things.

Well, I'm off. Stayed tuned for another big wedding-related surprise that I can't talk about yet in case Jenn's reading. ;)
